Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season are included.
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
First, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
